چکیده

Aquaculture plays a key role in food production globally and provides valuable source of protein nutrition, addressing worldwide growing demand. Oplegnathus punctatus (spotted knifejaw) is an economically important fish species with high market value Previous studies on O. focused mainly gonadal development, chromosomal microstructure, selective breeding, characterization immune genes, viral diseases. There no published scientific research regarding vibriosis this species. In study, two potential pathogenic bacteria, Vibrio harveyi Enterococcus gallinarum, were isolated from moribund cultured punctatus. The sequence the universal 16S rDNA gene was used to identify bacteria punctatus, morphological assessments API20E tests bacterial isolates conducted verify identity biochemical characteristics isolates. Injection E. gallinarum did not lead mortality during 21 days observation. contrast, died overnight when challenged V. at 1.25 × 105 CFU/g body weight, suggesting that cause death infection. Antimicrobial sensitivity analyses revealed strain NTOU sensitive flumequine, doxycycline, oxolinic acid, amoxycillin. Importantly, we demonstrated for first time intraperitoneal administration inactivated whole-cell vaccine resulted level protection against infection

First description of wound infection with Vibrio harveyi in Spain

MIC, minimum inhibitory concentration; TMP/SMX, trimethoprim/ sulfamethoxazole. Vibrio harveyi (synonym V. carchariae), is a motile Gram-negative rod which is facultatively anaerobic, halophilic and bioluminescent [1]. It is found free-swimming in tropical marine waters and commensally in the gut microflora of marine animals. It is a pathogen of marine animals [2,3], although it has been consid...

Characterization of a whole, inactivated influenza (H5N1) vaccine

OBJECTIVES Effective vaccines against the highly pathogenic influenza A/H5N1 virus are being developed worldwide. In Japan, two adjuvanted, inactivated, whole-virion influenza vaccines were recently developed and licensed as mock-up, pre-pandemic vaccine formulations by the Ministry of Health and Labor Welfare of Japan. During the vaccine design and development process, various obstacles were o...

A bivalent Vibrio harveyi DNA vaccine induces strong protection in Japanese flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus).

Vibrio harveyi is a severe aquaculture pathogen that can infect a large number of fish species. In previous studies, we have identified two protective immunogens, DegQ and Vhp1, from pathogenic V. harveyi strains. In this study, we examined the potentials of DegQ and Vhp1 as monovalent and bivalent DNA vaccines in a Japanese flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) model. For this purpose, the DNA vac...

Post-exposure treatment with whole inactivated H5N1 avian influenza virus protects against lethal homologous virus infection in mice

Concerns with H5N1 influenza viruses include their prevalence in wild and domestic poultry, high mortality rate (~60%) in humans with some strains, lack of pre-existing immunity in humans, and the possibility that these viruses acquire mutations that enable efficient transmission between humans. H5 subtype viruses of Eurasian origin have recently appeared in wild and domestic bird populations i...
